Is Cro-Magnon the new gay? Ahead of their sitcom, speculation swirls about the sexuality of GEICO's cavemen.


One of ABC's hottest prospects for the 2007-2008 television season is the sitcom Cavement starring the pre-historic characters from the popular GEICO GEICO Government Employees Insurance Company  insurance ads as they struggle to find acceptance in an intolerant in·tol·er·ant

Not tolerant, especially:
a. Unwilling to tolerate differences in opinions, practices, or beliefs, especially religious beliefs.

 world. Being Cro-Magnon in the 21st century is hard enough, but could the cavemen also be gay?

That's an idea being tossed around on dozens of online bulletin boards and blogs: TMZ.com, TVSquad.com, Diog.com, and Defamer.com, to name a few. Contributors have noticed that cavewomen never appear in the commercials. Is it because they're not relevant to the cavemen's lives?

The 30-second spots are rife with other clues. The cavemen dress tidily, and they share a swank, modern apartment (see CavemansCrib.com) In an ad that takes place at a restaurant, one caveman of orders roast duck with mango mango (măng`gō), evergreen tree of the Anacardiaceae (sumac family), native to tropical E Asia and now grown in both hemispheres.
