Ironshore opens an office in Boston.

Ironshore Inc., a Hamilton, Bermuda-based broker-sourced specialty property/casualty insurer, is opening an office in Boston to handle the company's East Coast distribution of wholesale insurance.

The office will serve New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt. , New York New York, state, United States

 with one in St. Louis that serves the central and western parts of the country. Both offices will fall under the supervision of Steven J. England, executive vice president of Ironshore Insurance Services.

The new office will "enable Ironshore Risk Agency to more efficiently serve its wholesale distribution network," England said. Ironshore was formed in Bermuda in 2006 to write property catastrophe and all risks property coverage for small to midsize commercial risks on a worldwide basis. The insurer began writing catastrophe excess casualty insurance targeting Fortune 1000 companies in 2009.
