Now in their 9th year, the IABS awards for real estate and construction recognize individuals of Irish American heritage from professions that "built New York," says IABS president Gerard McCabe. "The high-pressured New York real estate market allows only the very best to succeed. The Irish have historically mastered this task well. There are a select few who not only have achieved professional success but have sacrificed their time and rewards to help those who are in need. This year's honorees represent that proud Irish tradition and the IABS is proud to recognize their success and their contributions to society."

The Irish community has long been a force in real estate and construction, as it has in education and civic government, and this year's Humanitarian Honoree has "walked the corridors of power and higher learning with honor, dignity and a record of accomplishment that places him among the few select educators of the past generation, said McCabe.
