Irdeto Access is Honored to Become an Approved Conditional Access Supplier for the Chinese Market.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2002

Irdeto Access, a world leader in content protection and management, announced that it has become one of the approved conditional access suppliers by China State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT SARFT State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (China) ) for the Chinese market.

Irdeto Access is one of only two foreign conditional access suppliers approved by the SARFT.

 Selection Meeting held in October, the Digital Television Experimental Work Group, formed by 20 conditional access technology experts, assessed the proposals provided by 17 foreign and domestic CA technology providers.

As a result the SARFT released a list of the approved CA technology suppliers that are allowed to sell their products in China. The list contains only two foreign CA suppliers; Irdeto Access ranks first.

Under SARFT's guidance, Irdeto Access worked with a Chinese partner to integrate a Chinese algorithm with its systems, converting its most advanced conditional access system A conditional access system (CAS) is a system by which electronic transmission of digital media, especially satellite television signals through cable, is limited to subscribed clients. This is called conditional access.  into a product meeting the requirements of the Chinese government. In September last year, Irdeto Access presented and demonstrated to a group of SARFT experts the first localized foreign CA product.
