IrDA Adopts IrSimple as Global Standard for High-Speed Infrared Communications Protocol.Tokyo, Japan, Aug 29, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - The Infrared Data Association See IrDA. (standard, body) Infrared Data Association - (IrDA) A non-profit trade association providing standards to ensure the quality and interoperability of infrared (IR) hardware. (IrDA) has decided to formally adopt IrSimple, a high-speed infrared communications protocol, as its global standard. Developed by ITX ITX Isopropylthioxanthone ITX Intermediate Text Block ITX Interactive Transaction Executive ITX Indian Text Exchange E-Globaledge, NTT DoCoMo, Sharp, and Waseda University, IrSimple enables four to 10 times the data transmission speed of IrDA-4M, one of the current infrared protocols that achieves up to 4Mbps. The IrSimple protocol also maintains backward compatibility with the existing IrDA protocols. Complying with the new standard, digital devices will be used for innovative applications, according to the four development partners. They say that photographs taken with a mobile phone can be instantly and simply sent to a flat-panel TV or printer.
