Iomega and Roland Team Up On Next Generation Digital Studio Workstation; Roland's Adoption of Zip 250MB Drive Continues Expansion of Iomega's Beyond-PC Initiative.

ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1999--Expanding its Beyond-PC initiative, Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM) today announced that it is once again teaming up with Roland Corporation  to expand the Zip(R) drive's use in the music industry.

Roland is planning to include an internal Zip 250MB drive in the new Roland VS-840EX Digital Studio Workstation. This self-contained 8-track digital recording studio allows VS-840EX users to record approximately 125 minutes of VS audio on a single Zip 250MB disk in the default MT-2 recording mode (time figure quoted is total track minutes available, shared between all tracks being used).

Roland included internal Zip(R) 100MB drives in its first generation VS-840 Digital Studio Workstation when it was released in January 1998. Since then, Roland customers have become used to the convenience, low price, wide availability and portability of Zip disks. The internal Zip 250 drive gives customers two and a half times more capacity than the Zip 100 drives included in the original VS-840.

The Zip(R) 250 drive's increased capacity and speed make it the perfect storage solution for the musicians who use Roland products. By recording music directly to Zip disks, the VS-840EX, and its predecessor, the VS-840, gives users an automatic archive of their audio mixes, and allows these mixes to be easily shared.

The VS-840EX Digital Studio Workstation with the Zip 250 drive built in is expected to be available worldwide by the end of the first quarter of 1999 at an estimated street price of $1,395 (U.S.).
