Investing in your future. (Dear Reader).

Although the economists are predicting a recession, it still is important to invest in your future. This issue of AMT See vPro.  offers a number of ways to help with your commitment to your career.

Music teaching is a multi-faceted profession. At any given time, you may function as a business person, mentor, career coach or guidance counselor guidance counselor Child psychology A school worker trained to screen, evaluate and advise students on career and academic matters . With this in mind, we've assembled this issue to reflect these many roles.

The feature stories address several nonmusical aspects of teaching: zoning issues; the public's perception of music teachers and what each person can do to change that perception; the potential for malpractice lawsuits against music teachers; the supply and demand issue for performers; and finally how practice can play a role in a performer's job search. I think these articles will prove to be informative and intriguing.

Also, you'll find, beginning on page 30, initial information regarding the 2002 MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association
