The Expansion Project is being constructed for Ras Laffan Natural Gas Company Limited (II) - Ras Gas II - jointly owned by Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Mobil GM Gas Inc., an Exxon-Mobil affiliate. The project will add LNG Trains #3 and associated Utilities, Offsites and Infrastructure facilities to the existing Ras Laffan LNG complex, located approximately 80 km north of Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. Invensys' Singapore project team is responsible for project management, design, implementation, delivery, integrated testing, and start up of the Foxboro and Triconex process automation and safety systems plus associated sub-systems. The RasGas (II) Project Management Team has specified state-of-the art automation technologies on the project. These include I/A Series remote I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output. I/O - Input/Output with a high-speed fiber optic Ethernet fieldbus network, HART field communications, and - on a trial basis - FOUNDATION fieldbus H1. These will assist the Contractor, Invensys, and RasGas II project teams to more quickly and efficiently handle the plant commissioning and start up. The contract award follows the successful implementation of the Foxboro I/A Series DCS and Triconex PESD and FGS systems contracts for the LNG Train #1 and 2, plus a turnkey Integrated Control and Information Management System (ICIMS ICIMS Intelligent Control and Integration of Manufacturing Systems ICIMS Internet Collaborative Information Management Systems ). This groundbreaking ICIMS project encompasses all corporate information, automation, maintenance, and technical systems and networks at the large grassroots LNG facility, providing unprecedented real-time management decision support.
