 chairman Scott Cook Scott Cook (Intuit, Inc.), HBS 1976, started his career at Procter & Gamble, where he learned about product development, market research, and marketing. He soon began using the insights he was learning there to look for an idea for a company of his own.  on the collapse of his company's proposed merger with Microsoft (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA, www.microsoft.com) The most successful and influential software company. Microsoft's software and Intel's hardware pioneered the PC and revolutionized the computer industry. : "When we announced the deal, everyone was saying, 'Congratulations.' Now that the deal is off, people are saying, 'Congratulations.'" (Quoted in Business Week, 6/5/95)
