Intuicom Expands Product Line with SmartGPS Tracker Wireless Transceiver; Higher Capability Cellular Alternative Has Superior Functionality, Lower Cost.

Business Editors & Technology Writers

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2001

Intuicom, Inc., a leader in Global Positioning (GPS)-enhanced wireless data networks, today announced the release of its SmartGPS Tracker(TM), an advanced transceiver that combines real-time GPS positioning with wireless data transmission in a small, dependable, cost-effective unit.

Specifically developed for critical tracking applications, SmartGPS Tracker(TM) provides a higher-capability alternative to cellular for "always on" transportation, automation, precision monitoring and other remote or mobile data applications.

Unlike cellular data communications data communications, application of telecommunications technology to the problem of transmitting data, especially to, from, or between computers. In popular usage, it is said that data communications make it possible for one computer to "talk" with another. , which competes with voice for network availability, and requires an expensive repeated sequence of dial, transmission and disconnect, Intuicom provides an "always on" private wireless network that enables real-time bi-directional data flows and is never held up by the busy problems typical to cellular communications. In addition to its superior performance capabilities, the SmartGPS Tracker provides higher bandwidth and requires no activation or ongoing monthly fees -- making it more cost effective as well.

"While cellular may be acceptable for casual voice communications, it is not an alternative for mission-critical applications that require a continuous connection and flow of information," said Steve Fisher Steve Fisher (born March 24, 1945 in Herrin, Illinois, U.S.) is a basketball coach currently at San Diego State University.

Fisher attended Illinois State University, where he helped lead the Redbirds to the 1969 Division II Final Four.

"Our customers either cannot tolerate the periodic communications outages that result from cellular network overload or require more substantial bandwidth to extend the reach of their corporate management systems into the field."

The SmartGPS Tracker(TM) complements Intuicom's existing product line, offering a broad and flexible range of capabilities. Networked together using Intuicom WiGate Network Management Software(TM), real-time GPS positioning data can be streamed from multiple field units to one receiving point for display, storage, processing or Internet transfer.
