Introduction

In November 2002, the Vanderbilt University Law School hosted a service to commemorate the life and career of Professor Jonathan I. Charney. Speaking at the ceremony were Dean Kent Syverud of Vanderbilt University Law School; Professor Jeffrey Schoenblum of Vanderbilt University Law School; James McHenry, student at Vanderbilt University Law School; Professor Richard Bilder of University of Wisconsin School of Law; Professor Louis Henkin of Columbia Law School; and Professor W. Michael Reisman of Yale Law School. The following is a publication of the speeches given that day. We have also included an additional appreciation of Professor Charney submitted by Professor Lori Damrosch of Columbia Law School.
