Free Courseware Makes it Easy to Integrate Digital Art into the Classroom

The first components of this new visual arts curriculum, Digital Painting and Sketching Using Corel Painter X, are now available free from www.corel.com/paintercourseware and can be seen at the Corel booth (#949) at the TCEA 2007 event (Texas Computer Education Association) in Austin this week.

Authored by Stephanie Reese, an accredited high school art teacher who holds a BA in Curriculum Development and a Master's in Education, the new Corel Painter X curriculum is designed to make it easy for educators to integrate this next-generation digital art studio into high-school art and photography classes. The curriculum is divided into three units, each covering five 45-minute classes. Subject areas include: an introduction to the tools, paints and brushes in Corel Painter X; exploring composition with the new Divine Proportion tool; transforming photographs into paintings; and techniques for creating digital characters and painting line drawings.
