A second, higher grade vein has been discovered and has been traced to date over a 200 metre strike length, and is referred to as the "South Vein". Trench No. 4 across this vein averaged 10.99 g/t gold and 122 g/t silver over 8.1 metres. The width of stockwork around this vein has yet to be determined. The main vein system consists of an epithermal stockwork breccia which is mineralized min·er·al·ize v. min·er·al·ized, min·er·al·iz·ing, min·er·al·iz·es v.tr. 1. The siliceous siliceous relating to or made of silica or a silicate. stockwork breccia forms the spine of Loma del Caballo and consists of a number of 2-3 metre wide veins which are surrounded by broader envelopes of siliceous breccia that attain widths of 15-25 metres. Trench 5 intersected mineralized wallrock between two of the vein sets at the north end of Loma del Caballo and averaged 0.64 g/t gold and 104.5 g/t silver over 19.9 metres. A second zone within this trench intersected another stockwork-vein system averaging 1.06 g/t gold and 47.2 g/t silver over 23.5 metres. The Santiago stockwork assayed 2.12 g/t gold and 43.35 g/t silver over 32.1 metres, excluding the main vein, which assayed up to 10.1 g/t gold and 174 g/t silver over 2.8 metres true width. An additional two tunnels have been opened up into the Loma del Caballo system and are being prepared for sampling. Drilling commenced today on the southern portion of the Loma ridge. A second rig will be mobilized to test the north portion of the structure in the next few weeks. The target is a bulk mineable gold-silver deposit. Surface exploration continues on the Miguelito and Minas del Oro prospects contiguous with the Loma Caldera caldera: see crater. caldera Large, bowl-shaped volcanic depression that forms when the top of a volcanic cone collapses into the space left after magma is ejected during a violent volcanic eruption. The term is Spanish for “caldron. structure. Elsewhere on the property, reconnaissance sampling continues to return encouraging results. A second breccia zone with similarities to Loma del Caballo has been located north of the Encuentros silver-gold mine. An average of six samples from dumps assayed 1.17 g/t gold and 138.7 g/t silver, in addition a single sample assayed 12.8 g/t gold and 970 g/t silver from the same area. In Nicaragua, the joint venture reports that reconnaissance mapping and sampling has commenced on its 444 square kilometre Columbus property. This property is contiguous with the Delgratia / Western Mining Columbus property where a new gold discovery has been recently announced. Intrepid / Focal will be completing an airborne survey over its 210 square kilometre Erapuca property in Honduras. This property is located 3 kilometres south of the San Andreas mine which is currently being developed by Greenstone green·stone n.
