Intraware Announces the Launch of Digital Fastball(TM); Company Targets New Markets with a Powerful Digital Content Delivery Service.

ORINDA, Calif. -- Intraware, Inc. (Nasdaq:ITRA), the leading provider of electronic software delivery and management (ESDM) services, today announced that the company is launching a new service called Digital Fastball. Digital Fastball is a fast, secure, professional Web-based digital content delivery service that leverages the core capabilities of Intraware's SubscribeNet service to address the needs of small and mid-sized companies across a number of verticals.

The Technology

With Digital Fastball, users can send digital files of virtually any type or size and restrict ongoing access of their valuable digital content to a specified list of recipients in an easy-to-use and feature-rich manner. File senders can monitor the use of their transmitted files by recipient and receive rich reporting regarding delivery and download activity. Digital Fastball senders can also store their files externally in a secure environment and receivers can download the files they are entitled to receive through one of the industry's best digital content delivery networks.

Unlike many of the file-specific content services available on the Internet today, Digital Fastball allows the user to deliver virtually any type of content in its native form -- software, documents, video, audio, photos, graphics, schematics, databases, and more. In practice, many users need to combine multiple types of content for delivery when working with clients or colleagues on a project, and Digital Fastball enables them to do so.

Digital Fastball technology fundamentally leverages the capabilities and infrastructure of Intraware's SubscribeNet(R) service (patent-pending). It is a file delivery service that utilizes centralized, managed cache servers to deliver files rather than using peer-to-peer networks as many file-sharing services do. Entitlement management and file download tracking are two core features of Digital Fastball. Customers of the service have the ability not only to control and monitor who is downloading digital content, but also to control tampering with and unauthorized forwarding of files.

The Market

Although Intraware has been evaluating a Digital Fastball-like solution for some time, the company believes it is only now that the market is ready for this type of solution. The service is being introduced at a time when the quantity of digital goods being produced is exploding, the number of people purchasing and downloading digital goods is growing rapidly, Internet speeds are achieving unprecedented levels, and the need to both deliver and store digital goods is pressing across a wide range of users.

The market for Digital Fastball includes both small to mid-size companies and individual consumers.
