Plus Software and Intel(R) Network Processors Demonstrates AT&T CallVantage Service

Intoto Inc., a leading provider of integrated security, wireless and voice software platforms to networking equipment manufacturers, today announced that it will demonstrate an industry-leading Voice over IP (VoIP) solution for residential and Small-Office/Home-Office (SOHO Soho (sōhō`, sə–), district of Westminster, London, England, known for its continental restaurants. Once a fashionable quarter, it became popular among writers and artists in the 19th cent. ) gateway equipment at the Intel Developer Forum Intel Developer Forum (IDF), is a twice yearly gathering of technologists to discuss Intel products and products based around Intel products. The first IDF was in 1997. There is usually a Spring IDF and a Fall IDF.  Fall 2004. The complete VoIP solution features Intoto's iGateway RGS Plus software platform running on an Intel(R) IXDP425 Advanced Development Platform. Demonstrations will showcase AT&T CallVantage(SM) Service.

The live VoIP demonstrations will be held in Intoto's booth #1116 and Intel's demo pavilion, as well as on-stage during the keynote session by Howard Bubb, vice president of Intel's Communications Infrastructure Group, on September 7, 2004.

"With the combination of Intoto's VoIP software platforms and Intel(R) IXP (1) (Internet EXchange Processor) See IXA.

4XX network processor products, OEMs can quickly add VoIP capabilities to new systems or existing products," said Doug Davis, vice president and general manager, Intel Network Processor Division. "This capability is fast becoming a 'must have' feature for networking OEMs to meet service provider requirements."

The market for VoIP services is, by any measure, experiencing high growth and is expected to continue this growth throughout the decade. Subscribers are expected to grow to millions of VoIP subscribers in just the next four years alone. AT&T CallVantage Service, a nationwide VoIP service for consumers and Small-to-Medium Businesses (SMBs), is a leader in this market transformation.

"The reference design by Intoto with Intel will lower development costs for manufacturers and speed time to market for new VoIP devices such as telephone adapters, routers, and high-speed modems that can be quickly certified to support AT&T CallVantage Service," said Christopher Rice, director of access technologies research at AT&T Labs. "AT&T's award-winning broadband phone service See VoIP.  offers one of the most robust feature sets and best voice quality in the industry."

To meet the proprietary SIP requirements of AT&T CallVantage Service, Intoto has entered into a license with AT&T wherein Intoto's iGateway RGS Plus has also been enhanced with advanced features such as remote software upgrade and provisioning over SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. Developed by Netscape, SSL is widely used to do two things: to validate the identity of a Web site and to create an encrypted connection for sending credit card and other personal data. , caller ID privacy, 3-way and n-way calling, call forwarding, call waiting, voice mail, emergency services, speed dial, presence, session timeout management, DTMF (Dual-Tone MultiFrequency) The type of audio signals that are generated when you press the buttons on a touch-tone telephone. Intoto's iGateway RGS Plus software platform has been optimized for the Intel IXP425 network processor. The Intel XScale core operates at very high speeds for processing algorithms such as G.711, G.726, G.729, G.722 and G.723.1 with very low power consumption. In addition, built-in network processing engines (NPEs) support advanced "livelock prevention" for better voice quality. The IXP425 is supported by a powerful DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  software library that runs on the high speed Intel XScale(R) core. The DSP library includes VAD (Value Added Dealer) Same as VAR.  and CNG, adaptive/dynamic jitter control, multi-framing, echo cancellation, eliminating the need for separate DSP silicon. The iGateway RGS Plus software further enhances voice quality through DiffServ, traffic policing, RED/ WRED WRED Weighted Random Early Detection

"As the demand for broadband customer premise equipment continues to grow, OEMs must begin establishing their VoIP product strategies now," said Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing at Intoto. "With Intoto's iGateway RGS Plus platform, OEMs gain an integrated, certified and interoperable software solution that allows them to quickly differentiate their products in a highly competitive residential market."
