Into each camp a lot of rain falls.

The campsites are located under tall stands of cedar and Douglas fir Douglas fir: see pine.

Cooking and maintaining a campfire are a bit challenging in the rain, Combs conceded, but both Farley and Combs said that despite the wet conditions, they still enjoyed being away from the city.

"Saturday night, we had steak and corn on the cob. After the rain, it was calm and we just sat here enjoying the stars," Farley said.

A few campsites away, Dean Hurt of Corvallis was tearing down his tent and packing up for a return trip home.

Hurt was undaunted by the rain; this was the fourth time he'd gone camping this year and the fourth time it had rained, he said.

"I like the serenity. Every weekend is a new adventure. And the fun thing about camping - there's no yard work to do," he said.
