The upgrading of this product now makes it available in both commercial and industrial temperature ranges and in both the 16-lead SOIC (Small Outline IC) A small-dimension, plastic, rectangular, surface mount chip package that uses gull-wing pins extending outward. The extended temperature range and low thermal impedance QFN package make the ISL6558 an ideal choice for industrial environments.
The ISL6558 is a multi-phase PWM controller that, in combination with the HIP6601B, HIP6602B, HIP6603B, or ISL6605 companion gate drivers, provides a complete solution for high-current, high slew-rate applications. The ISL6558 regulates output voltage, balances load currents and provides protective functions for two to four synchronous rectified buck converter channels. Intersil's multiphase buck converter architecture uses interleaved timing to multiply channel ripple frequency, improve thermal performance, and reduce input and output ripple currents.
