Interquest subsidiary Blood Trac Systems Inc. and Mayo Clinic will work together to develop advanced computer solutions for blood industry.


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 1995--Interquest Incorporated announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary Blood Trac Systems Inc., a leading developer of computer systems for the blood industry, and Mayo Clinic, a private group practice of medicine, have announced a joint research and development partnership to create computer software for blood transfusion blood transfusion, transfer of blood from one person to another, or from one animal to another of the same species. The new software package will enable users to manage and track blood received from a blood bank, the transfusion procedure and patient information. It will be designed to work in conjunction with BloodTRAC software, a product currently on the market, used for the management of blood donors and donations to blood banks.

Mayo Clinic will serve as the primary reference site and provide expert input and technical consultation. Secondary reference sites also will be consulted to ensure the final product meets the needs of the industry as a whole. Blood Trac Systems will develop the system and market it on a worldwide basis.

The new system that Mayo and Blood Trac Systems will develop, and Blood Trac Systems' current blood donor and collection software can function independently or be integrated with each other. Mayo will integrate the systems to support the practice of its fully functional donor centre and its two hospitals in Rochester, Minn. The integrated system will provide consistency of information, faster access to that information, and more efficient and accurate donor, patient and blood product processing.
