Interpreting Mammograms.

Mammograms are not as accurate in young women (in their 30s) as in older patients. So clinicians should not be overly reassured by negative mammograms among young women nor overly alarmed by marginally abnormal results. In older patients, however, especially in their 60s and 70s, both positive and negative results are more likely to be accurate.
