Interphase Announces Early Access of Multi-Purpose 10 Gigabit AdvancedMC Carrier Blade; New AdvancedMC Carrier Serves as Flexible Foundation for Multiple Application Blades, with Industry-First Support for 10 Gigabit Fabric Interface.

CHICAGO -- Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), a leading international supplier of next-generation networking technologies, today announced the early availability of the iNAV(TM) 31K AdvancedMC(TM) Carrier Blade, a flexible, high-performance way to meet the needs of a wide variety of applications in AdvancedTCA(R) 3.1 systems, including high-bandwidth I/O carriers, processing resource blades, and security complexes. The new AdvancedMC carrier blade is the first of its kind to offer support for AdvancedTCA 10 Gigabit fabric interface, which is key for content-rich applications such as IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), 3G broadband wireless connectivity, WiMax solutions, broadband multi-media (such as IPTV) and security processing, all of which are fueling the growth for higher bandwidth in today's infrastructures.

The carrier blade provides a versatile environment for multiple AdvancedTCA blade functions, and offers telecom OEMs the flexibility to populate the carrier with a mix of four AdvancedMCs for their unique application.

The iNAV 31K offers an Ethernet switch with 24 Gigabit ports and one pair of 10 Gigabit XAUI links or 1/2/4 Gigabit Ethernet links to the AdvancedTCA 3.1 fabric interface, an optional PCI Express switch, advanced telecom clock management, and a Linux-based board management computer (BMC) that provides full local and remote management. The BMC requires no further customer-provided programming, and in some applications the added cost of an external processor blade or processor AdvancedMC is eliminated by running customer-provided application software directly on the BMC. The iNAV 31K offers a flexible and cost-effective resource for building AdvancedTCA systems, and serves consolidated common platform initiatives with its flexibility. The iNAV 31K also provides SAS/SATA connectivity between bays to support disk AdvancedMCs, and PCI Express connectivity to support processor AdvancedMCs.

IMS application servers, IPTV video on demand, WiMAX and cellular base station controllers, and gateways are examples of growing high-bandwidth applications that allow service creation for telecom OEMs.

The Interphase line of network interface, communications processor, network processor and security processor AdvancedMCs are all tested for compatibility with the iNAV 31K, and Interphase has aligned with the leading AdvancedTCA platform vendors to ensure interoperability. The iNAV 31K is on display this week at GLOBALCOMM in Chicago, Illinois in the Interphase booth (#34052) and in the Interphase booth within the PICMG pavilion (#12042). Customers will have early access to the iNAV 31K in the third quarter of 2006.
