Server Technology Named Official Power Distribution Provider of the InteropNet for Interop Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. RENO, Nev. -- Server Technology Inc. announced today that the company will be the exclusive provider for Power Distribution Units (PDUs) of the InteropNet event network at Interop[R] Las Vegas 2007, produced by CMP Technology. Interop Las Vegas 2007 will be held May 20-25that the Mandalay Bay Convention Center The Mandalay Bay Convention Center is one of the largest privately owned and operated convention centers in the world. The InteropNet network, built to support voice, video, and data for thousands of demanding attendees and sponsoring exhibitors, will be powered by Server Technology's cabinet PDUs, which provide remote configuration and management with power distribution and power and environmental monitoring. This is Server Technology's first year providing equipment to InteropNet.

The InteropNet is built in collaboration with leading vendors and hand-selected products that are ready to meet any network challenge. Server Technology's products provide a secure web based GUI (Graphical User Interface) A graphics-based user interface that incorporates movable windows, icons and a mouse. The ability to resize application windows and change style and size of fonts are the significant advantages of a GUI vs. a character-based interface. , logging, Syslog support, email notification, SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc.  traps, LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) A protocol used to access a directory listing. LDAP support is implemented in Web browsers and e-mail programs, which can query an LDAP-compliant directory.  and LDAPS LDAPS Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (Over SSL) , TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access Control System) An access control protocol used to authenticate a user logging into the network. ) products are also capable of communicating with Avocent's DSView([R])3 management software. Customers that select the DSView 3 management software can take advantage of a single interface for remotely and securely managing their PDUs, along with servers and serial devices making complex network access and control remarkably easy.

Interop Las Vegas attendees will have the opportunity to take free, engineer-led tours of the InteropNet throughout the exhibition and gain a practical, behind the scenes view. Tours start at the InteropNet NOC (Network Operations Center) A central or regional location for monitoring a large network. Also called a "network management center" (NMC), "service management center" (SMC) or "network control center" (NCC), a NOC may be used to manage a large enterprise network,  with three tours scheduled on May 22ndand 23rd and two tours on May 24th.

The Sentry Cabinet Distribution Units (CDUs) were the first family of cabinet-level power distribution units to provide 30 amp power distribution (110V and 208V, 208V 3-Phase) directly to the equipment cabinet while providing Branch Circuit Protection within the CDU. The Sentry CDUs are also the first power distribution units to meet the stringent requirements of the National Electric Code (NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).
