, PrimeCare Systems, Inc., has introduced PrimeCare on the Web, which is a secure Internet enhanced version of the PrimeCare Patient Management System.

PrimeCare on the Web enables the patient to complete one or more detailed medical history questionnaires that relate to the patient's chief complaint, as selected by their physician. The patient, using a unique ID and password, can securely and anonymously complete the questionnaire(s) from the comfort of their home, workplace, school, vacation site or even while waiting to see their physician, if Internet capability is available. PrimeCare has developed more than 280 different medical history questionnaires, ranging from a general history questionnaire containing more than 560 different questions to questionnaires covering specific medical situations (for example abdominal pain, shoulder problems, head aches, etc.). Collectively, the questionnaires contain over 100,000 disease state questions that can be viewed in either English or Spanish. The easy to understand formats have been in use for the past 10 years in a number of different medical settings. They have been used successfully by people who have limited reading ability. The medical report generated for the physician contains the patient's responses, and a list of differential diagnoses associated with the patient's responses. The report highlights the significant diagnoses and assists the physician to choose an appropriate preliminary course of action, e.g., "go to the emergency room of XYZ Hospital", or "take two aspirin", etc. All questions and answers are encrypted and all communications use secure digital certificates.

Edward Levine, President of OCG Technology, Inc. stated, "PrimeCare on the Web clearly has the potential to facilitate patients' access to medical care and to bring patients and physicians closer together thereby improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery systems." Mr. Levine also said, "I envision PrimeCare on the Web filling another serious need in health care. Unfortunately, critical clinical information is often locked up in inaccessible paper charts. However, the archival capability of PrimeCare on the Web provides a mechanism to enter and store a patient's general medical history for use in emergency situations. Provided that all ethical and legal considerations are met and proper security systems are utilized to protect a patient's rights to privacy, PrimeCare on the Web could provide a patient's archived general medical history to authorized hospital emergency departments and other authorized emergency care medical providers to aid them in making on the spot life or death decisions."

A by-product of the clinical database created using PrimeCare on the Web's unique method of collecting and storing clinical information anonymously, could be valuable to many healthcare companies. Information gathered may later assist with outcomes research and possibly enhance future healthcare products and services offered by drug manufacturers such as Bristol Meyers Squib (NYSE NYSE

), will have the opportunity of expanding their product lines. Managed care organizations such as Aetna (NYSE: AET), Oxford Health Plan (Nasdaq: OXHP), United HealthCare Corp (NYSE: UNH) and Wellpoint Health Networks (NYSE: WLD) could better understand their insureds' level of satisfaction. It should be a useful addition to the Internet companies that feature healthcare services such as America On Line (Nasdaq: AOL), Microsoft's Internet Explorer(R) (Nasdaq: MSFT MSFT Microsoft (stock symbol)
MSFT Movimento Sociale Fiamma Tricolore (Italy)
MSFT Multi-Stage Fitness Test

). PrimeCare on the Web could increase volumes on search engines such as Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO), Infoseek (Nasdaq: SEEK) and Excite (Nasdaq: XCIT). PrimeCare on the Web should also be of interest to emerging healthcare Internet companies such as Healtheon, Kinetra, Synetic (Nasdaq: SNTC) and WebMD(SM).
