The Internet fax server software runs on a Windows NT/2000 platform, receives e-mails, processes and formats the body of the e-mail and converts the attachments to fax file format, sends the fax, logs the transaction and sends an e-mail confirming the fax completion status.

The Internet E-mail-to-Fax solution allows a fax with document attachments to travel over the Internet as e-mail. Upon receipt the fax server processes the body of the e-mail message and attachments, formats it as a fax and sends it. For international fax applications, sending the fax as an e-mail can significantly reduce telephone network charges. For local fax applications, e-mail is a convenient way to specify and initiate a fax response.

V*Channel's Internet E-mail-to-Fax server features an easy-to-use e-mail interface. The recipient's name and fax phone number are specified in the subject line of the e-mail. The body of the e-mail is placed on the fax cover sheet as the personalized message. If there are documents to be faxed, the files can be attached to the e-mail and V*Channel's Doc-2-Fax document processor will convert it on-the-fly. If existing fax-on-demand documents need to be faxed out, the document numbers can be specified in the e-mail's subject line.
