Internationally-Renowned Chef Jacques Pepin to Host Summertime Feast At Hot Tomato's; Fete D'ete Will Benefit Habitat for Humanity House in New Haven.

Internationally-renowned chef Jacques Pepin will host Fete D'ete, a sumptuous summertime feast featuring a four-course dinner and a champagne reception, at historic Hot Tomato's in downtown New Haven's restaurant district on June 20.

The staff at Hot Tomato's will prepare Mr. Pepin's recipes and during the evening he will discuss his cuisine and sign books for guests.

"When I was asked to be a part of this event I couldn't say no," said Pepin, a longtime Connecticut resident. "It's a great event that combines doing something I love and helping a local resident fulfill the dream of owning a home. It's wonderful to see the local business community pull together to raise a roof in New Haven."

Fete D'ete is the Greater New Haven Greater New Haven is the metropolitan area whose extent includes those towns in the U.S. state of Connecticut that share an economic, social, political, and historical focus on the city of New Haven. It occupies the south-central portion of the state in a radius around New Haven.  Chamber of Commerce's response to the challenge that Wisvest-Connecticut posed to their fellow corporate citizens -- to help them build a Habitat house in New Haven. Wisvest-Connecticut has pledged up to $25,000 to match every dollar that the Chamber raises through this event and through the generosity of member businesses. Many local businesses, including Hot Tomato's, Phoenix Press, AHDesign, The Yale Bookstore, Schultz Electric, GIST, OXO OXO Også (Norwegian: as well, too) , Brown Rudnick, Environics Communications, and GIST, have contributed services and products for the event.

Mr. Pepin is a master chef, cooking teacher, columnist for Food and Wine and the celebrated host of award-winning cooking shows on National Public Television. He also is the author of nineteen cookbooks, including his newest, written with Julia Child Julia Child (August 15, 1912–August 13, 2004) was a famous American cook, author, and television personality who introduced French cuisine and cooking techniques to the American mainstream through her many cookbooks and television programs. , Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home.

Proceeds from the evening will support the Wisvest/Chamber challenge. Seatings for the dinner are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and tickets are available by calling the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce at 203/787-6735.
