International tour of breweries again offered by agency

In conjunction with the California Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association (CBWWA), a California-based corporate travel agency, Interport, Ltd., announced its 12th overseas brewery tour to observe brewing and distribution procedures and import opportunities in Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong.

According to Interport, the 14-day tour departs San Francisco on November 28 aboard Singapore Airlines. The trip's itinerary includes three nights at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore; two nights in villas at the Santiburi Dusit Resort on Samui Island, Thailand; three nights at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand; and four nights at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.

Brewery visits have been arranged in each country, and host breweries include Singapore's Asia Pacific Brewery, producer of Anchor and Tiger brands; Bangkok's Boonrawd Brewery, brewer of Singha; and Hong Kong's San Miguel Brewery, maker of San Miguel beer.

Interport's first brewery tour took place in 1975, when CBWWA members toured New Zealand, Australia and Tahiti. Subsequent tours have visited numerous European countries, South America, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, the Philippines, Japan and the People's Republic of China.

Because of the special nature of the tour, Interport notes, the number of participants will be limited to 35. Total cost for the tour is $6,850.
