Under Hugo Chavez, Venezuela is undergoing an educational revolution. Chilean President Michelle Bachelet fired the head of the riot police and condemned the excesses committed during the violent repression of protesting students. Some 600,000 Chilean high school students were demanding free public transport and a waiver of fees for college entrance exams and student identification cards.
