The Reynosa operation re-opened for business on October 26 and the Matamoros operation will be opened within days. The court in Nuevo Laredo Nuevo Laredo (nwā`vō lärā`thō), city (1990 pop. 218,413), Tamaulipas state, NE Mexico, across the Rio Grande from Laredo, Tex. denied Thunderbird's request for an Amparo, the Company appealed that ruling and lost on appeal. A trial to determine the "legality" of the Nuevo Laredo business will be heard on November 14, 2001. An "Amparo" is a provisional remedy provisional remedy n. a generic term for any temporary order of a court to protect a party from irreparable damage while a lawsuit or petition is pending. (See: interlocutory decree, temporary injunction) , which allows an operation to remain opened while a trial in the matter takes its course. Gobernacion and Thunderbird have rights to appeal the Amparo rulings, which may affect the timing of the re-opening of each facility. None of the Amparo rulings have addressed the merits of the cases, which will be determined through trials.
