As RealNames Moves to Registry/Registrar Model

for Distributing Keywords, David Orren Heads Up Sales of Keywords

to Customers in US, UK, Germany and Japan

RealNames Corporation, the Keyword infrastructure provider across platforms worldwide, today announced the appointment of David Orren to the post of senior vice president of RealNames-owned global Registrars. Orren, former managing director of Europe for Epicor Software, brings more than 15 years of sales and marketing experience to the position. He will lead the RealNames Registrars division, which will be responsible for selling Keywords directly to customers in the US, UK, Germany and Japan, and will report directly to Mary Burnside, president and chief operating officer of RealNames.

The RealNames Keyword Registry/Registrar model is an open system that locally distributes control and revenue of Keywords and namespaces, while encouraging the proliferation of Keyword providers of the Internet's next naming standard. Global Registry Services, which is run by RealNames, is responsible for licensing a single entity in each country, the country Registry, to act as the wholesale supplier of Keywords and services. The country Registry will appoint multiple Registrars within its country to sell Keywords to customers. RealNames is both the Registry and the Registrar in four countries - the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan. Orren was most recently managing director of Europe for Epicor Software (previously Platinum Software), where he was responsible for all operations of the European, Middle East and Africa divisions. He was also a regional director for the company in Asia, responsible for direct sales and channel partner management. Orren began his career in the `80s at Dun & Bradstreet Software, later becoming managing director of their Asia office. He has also served as a consultant for such organizations as Mentor_1 Group and MBf.
