), a world leader in power management technology, today announced that senior power management engineers from IR will share their expertise in energy-efficient power systems design at the upcoming Power Electronics Technology Exhibition and Conference being held at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif., October 22-26.

Addressing applications in lighting, computers, and appliances, International Rectifier's technologists will present these sessions:

* Dr. Aengus Murray will present "Motor Control Basics" on October 22, a full-day session beginning at 9 a.m., introducing engineers to the basic operating principles of DC and AC motor drive systems and their practical implementation on hardware and software platforms.

 Lighting Applications," will begin at 2 p.m. on October 22 and introduce designers to the fundamentals of fluorescent light technology and discuss various design and control approaches.

* On October 24 at 1:30 p.m., Carl Blake will chair a panel discussion on "Powering CPUs," exploring ways to improve system performance by optimizing package, MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) The most popular and widely used type of field effect transistor (see FET). MOSFETs are either NMOS (n-channel) or PMOS (p-channel) transistors, which are fabricated as individually packaged , or control loop.

* On October 26 at 10:45 a.m., Tom Ribarich will chair a technical session on a range of new lighting technologies, control methods, and design approaches joined by his IR colleagues Peter Green and Odile Ronat and other industry panelists.
