Forward voltage and recovery charge characteristics are optimized to allow high current operation at switching frequency above 50kHz. Low forward voltage drop reduces conduction losses and low reverse recovery energy reduces switching losses. All features combine to reduce power dissipation, operating temperature, size and weight, while increasing power supply efficiency and reliability. The low thermal resistance (0.63K/W max) combined with a high allowable junction temperature (175 degrees C max.) and a forward voltage of 1.42V results in a 60A current rating at 116 degrees C case temperature.
