International Paper (IP), Stamford, Connecticut, USA, is consolidating three existing businesses into its newly created Specialty Papers Business. Consolidated will be "Industrial Papers," "Kraft Papers," and a portion of the "Converting & Specialty Papers Business."

Also: John Dillon, chairman and chief executive officer, will retire on Oct. 31, 2003. John Faraci, currently IP president, will succeed him as chairman. Current Executive Vice President Rob Amen will become president. Amen has been elected to the board of directors.

IP is transitioning its Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina mill Paper Machine Number 4 from linerboard to unbleached kraft paper, and it will start up its idle Savannah, Georgia, Liner Board Machine Number 6.
