International District Energy Association Announces New Chair, Board Members.SEATTLE -- Anders Rydaker, president of District Energy St. Paul, was elected chair of the International District Energy Association (IDEA) at the annual meeting of the organization's 95th Annual Conference & Trade Show in Seattle. Six new board members also were elected. Rydaker has been an IDEA member for more than 20 years. He began his career in his native Sweden and has nearly 30 years of experience in the district energy field. In 1983 he came to the United States to provide on-site consulting service during construction of the hot water district heating distribution system and the conversion of a steam heating plant in St. Paul, Minn. He returned to Sweden in 1990 and helped pioneer that country's district cooling industry. He was named president of District Energy St. Paul and District Cooling St. Paul in September 1993. He also is the chief manager of Market Street Energy Co. He has initiated several energy-saving projects for District Energy, including the development, implementation and operation of a combined heat and power system that burns wood chips. District Energy St. Paul received IDEA's System-of-the-Year Award in 1993.
