International Designers Highlight SIGGRAPH's New Artists in Residence Program.

CHICAGO -- For the first time in its history, SIGGRAPH will host an Artists in Residence Program during the 34th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques held 5-9 August 2007 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California, USA. This new program features six established resident artists coming together from 2D, 3D, digital, non-digital, production, one-of-a-kind, large, and small-scale traditions.

The Artists in Residence will have individual and group workspace integrated into the Guerilla Studio - an open melting pot of scientists, researchers, artists, animators, designers - all collaborating using high-end workstations and cutting edge input/output computer technologies.

"These artists represent diverse backgrounds and are well known throughout the globe. Having them engaged in their craft in public inside the Guerilla Studio will fuel collaboration within the Studio and the conference at large," stated Phil Carrizzi, SIGGRAPH 2007 Artists in Residence Director from Kendall College of Art and Design. "Nowhere else but at SIGGRAPH can you find such an engaging, open, and collaborative atmosphere."

This year's Artists in Residence are:

Harriete Estel Berman - A California resident who is world renowned for her sculpture, jewelry, and wall pieces. She also is also represented in permanent collections across the United States, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Renwick Gallery in the Smithsonian Institute.

Matthew Hamon - A new media artist who specializes in photography as well as digital art. Harmon is also an assistant professor at Evergreen State College in Washington.

Philip Mallory Jones - An Atlanta resident who has worked with video, film, photography and writing for art making since 1969, and has incorporated digital media since 1990. His work has been broadcast and presented throughout North America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Africa, Japan and Australia. He has also taught at several prestigious institutions.

Mike & Maaike - A California based, internationally acclaimed design team that creates products, wearables and art pieces, most of which are in search of perpetual motion and human interaction - credits include the design of the XBOX 360.

Michael Wright - A talented painter based in Los Angeles who began to explore Digital Media in the mid 1980s on an Amiga computer. He exhibited his first Digital Prints in 1989 and continues to work in both traditional and electronic mediums. He has exhibited digital and traditional works on a national level.

SIGGRAPH 2007 will bring an estimated 25,000 computer graphics and interactive technology professionals from six continents to San Diego, California, USA for the industry's most respected technical and creative programs focusing on research, science, art, animation, gaming, interactivity, education, and the web from 5-9 August at the San Diego Convention Center. SIGGRAPH 2007 includes a three-day exhibition of products and services from the computer graphics and interactive marketplace from 7-9 August 2007.
