International Datacasting Wins Multimillion-Dollar Contract with Canada's Department of National Defence.

International Datacasting Corporation (TSX:IDC) announced today that it has been selected as the winning bidder in a competitive tender to provide satellite datacasting services to the Canadian Forces deployed in various locations around the world. The contract, which calls for the distribution of digital multimedia content from the IDC teleport located in Ottawa, is for one year of service. Valued at an initial $3.6 million the contract includes options for renewal for an additional two years of service as well as expansion of service as new requirements arise.

The contract provides-under the auspices of the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency-for programming and then transmission of two television channels (one in English, one in French), several radio stations, and other data as needed, digitally via satellite. This service, known as the Canadian Forces Radio & Television, provides news, sports, and entertainment programming to Canadian peacekeeping troops and other Canadian Forces deployed in ongoing as well as emerging new international conflicts. Using multiple satellites, this encrypted, closed circuit network includes coverage of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan and other sites including Canadian Navy ships and troops deployed in the Persian Gulf/Arabian Sea area.
