International Datacasting Provides Westwood One With Next-Generation Digital Radio Network.

OTTAWA -- International Datacasting Corporation (TSX:IDC), announced today that it has received a significant order from Westwood One, one of the largest radio networks in the US, to provide a next-generation digital audio distribution system for the broadcast of sports programming to its top 100 US markets. The advanced system has been installed and was online for Westwood One's live broadcast of Super Bowl XL from Detroit on February 5.

Westwood One is a major provider of sports programming including the broadcast of NFL, NHL and NCAA games as well as special events such as the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy. The new network - which is initially being deployed in Westwood One's top markets across the US-is based on IDC's SuperFlex Pro Audio suite of DVB-IP satellite datacasting products. It also includes IDC's Datacast XD Content Management and Distribution system and IDC's new Production Manager for "live assist" programming for switching between live and pre-recorded content.

The uplink or head-end of the new system, which has been installed at Westwood One's network operations centre in New York City, will broadcast sporting events live while allowing Westwood One to control the real-time triggering of pre-recorded programming that has been pre-stored on IDC's multimedia server appliances installed at selected syndicated radio stations. IDC successfully undertook extensive customization of the system in order to interface with Westwood One's existing automation systems for the cataloging and delivery of time-sensitive programming and also so that it could be deployed on an accelerated schedule in time for the recent NFL playoffs.
