International Datacasting Corp Wins $4 Million Contract Renewal to Provide Datacasting Services to Canadian Forces Overseas.
This contract is valued at approximately $4 million per year. IDC has operated this service for CFPSA since 1999.
The CFRT service-which is broadcast in real-time from IDC's Ottawa teleport-includes one channel of video in English, one in French and several home-town radio stations. The system operates on IDC's SuperFlex DVB-IP technology, which enables the seamless integration of multiple channels of video, audio and IP data into a single satellite carrier-reducing costs and improving quality. In the past year, programming has been enhanced to include a wider variety of broadcasting options for the deployed soldiers. The flexibility and scalability of IDC's technology has enabled the CFPSA to deliver its services to many regions throughout the world including: Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Afghanistan and to HMC Ships deployed in the Persian Gulf region.
IDC President and CEO Ron Clifton commented, "We are very pleased to have once again been awarded the renewal of our contract with CFPSA. As we enter the sixth consecutive year providing this service to Canadian Forces and I am proud to see that our technology has been consistently meeting and exceeding CFPSA's requirements and, more importantly, has made a valuable contribution to the troops' morale."
Greg Pearson, CFPSA Executive Vice-President Personnel Support Programs, commented, "Maintaining a link with home and keeping our deployed members up to date on the latest news stories is essential for their morale and quality of life. International datacasting has been a champion in making CFRT one of the core morale services that we provide."
