There are two types of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is responsible for the vast majority of AIDS in the United States. and AIDS. Previous human clinical studies of the treatment have demonstrated a significant improvement in the health care status of 60 out of 70 individuals within a 90 to 120 day time-frame. The initial clinical trials will consist of a double blind placebo study involving 250 individuals on the Island of Anguilla. The purpose of the continuing testing is to validate and substantiate the previous test results obtained as well as increase the amount of clinical data available for analysis. The trials are scheduled to begin the first week of November, 2000. The Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee which IBCT has established, and was referred to in the press release of September 8, 2000, will investigate and report to the board on relevant medical, scientific and pharmaceutical issues including the conduct of the clinical tests and experimental treatments.
