Company: Bruker Optics
Stand: D116
E-mail: anneke.lubben@daltonics.bruker.co.uk

FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infra Red) is the modern technique for
performing Infra Red Spectroscopy where IR radiation is passed through
a sample. Some of the IR radiation is absorbed whilst a proportion of
the light passes straight through the sample or is transmitted. The IR
spectrum is the graphical representation of the range of wavelengths
of IR light measured. These wavelengths are dependant on the chemical
bonds present in the molecule. Much like a fingerprint, different
molecules will give different IR spectra. This makes FT-IR
spectroscopy a powerful analytical tool for several types of analysis,
including:

--Identification of unknown materials - Qualitative Analysis,

--Determination of the amounts of components in a mixture -
Quantitative Analysis,

--Confirmation of the quality or consistency of raw materials and
finished products.

DNA Research Innovations will be presenting their patented Charge
SwitchTM Technology (CSTTM) at International Biotech next week. This
innovative nucleic acid purification technology allows faster and
simpler purification of DNA without the use of ethanol or chaotropes.
The need for precipitation, heating and drying steps, together with
the risk of contamination of downstream processes is thus also
eliminated.

CSTTM works by laying down a switchable positive charge on a wide
range of solid phases in a variety of formats. DNA binds to the
positive charge and with the addition of a standard Tris buffer the
charge is switched off and pure clean DNA is eluted. .

We have a large number of ongoing stability studies with samples
stored in a variety of cabinets maintained under ICH storage
conditions. We work to GLP/GMP.

Our formulation development work ranges from
pre-formulation/formulation support for toxicology studies through
to small-scale production and process transfer to GMP plants.

Techniques include HPLC, GC, dissolution testing, UV
spectrophotometry, infra-red, coulometric KF, disintegration, particle
size analysis, rheology, total organic carbon, lyophilisation,
tableting, parenterals, semi-solids etc.

Pyrosequencing develops, manufactures and sells complete solutions
for rapid applied genetic analysis based on its proprietary
Pyrosequencing(TM) technology. The PSQ(TM)HS 96A System is a
cost-effective solution for medium to high-throughput SNP and mutation
analysis. The system uses a highly sensitive light detector to monitor
Pyrosequencing reactions, minimizing the amount of sample and reagent
required per assay and therefore reducing the cost per accurate
result. The automated system can analyze over 10,000 SNP and mutation
samples within 24 hours. Furthermore, the inclusion of integrated
robotics and a ten-plate stacker (96-well format) delivers up to two
hours of unattended operation.

SAFELAB Ducted Fume Cupboards protect operators and AIRONE(TM)
Filtration Fume Cupboards fitted with high efficiency and multiple
SAFELAB carbon filters also protect the environment - from toxic
vapours and particulates, chemical carcinogens and radioactive Iodine
extracted from the fume-enclosure - in compliance with BS:7989:2001
and DIN:12927. Both types are available in widths of 1m, 1.2m, 1.5m
and 1.8 metre.

AIRONE(TM) Filtration Fume Cupboards are fitted with suspended and
counterweighted gliding safety glass sashes. These and the transparent
safety-glass fume enclosure provide good visibility (acrylic panels
crease from exposure to solvents and attract dust). All models can be
used in the "Ducted mode" and in the "Recirculatory mode" - providing
constant face velocity control (VAV) and featuring two-tier "Security"
Carbon filters for Zero Emissions.

Serologicals(R) adds an innovative tool to your pharmacogenomics
toolbox with our Amplifluor(TM) SNPs Genotyping System. This
remarkably robust and economical product uses two fluorescently
labeled universal UniPrimers(TM) in a one-step, closed tube,
allele-specific PCR reaction to determine any genotype. When the
reaction is complete, a red or green fluorescent signal indicates a
homozygous sample, and yellow means it's heterozygous. It's that
simple. The Amplifluor(TM) SNPs Genotyping System eliminates the need
to design and order expensive fluorescently labeled SNP-specific
hybridization reporter probes as well as perform tedious (and
expensive) post-PCR sample processing. Results can be read on
virtually any fluorescence detection or real-time PCR instrument and
reactions are easily automated.

Vivascience, a subsidiary of Sartorius AG, underscores Sartorius'
strategic focus on biotechnology and is one of the first companies to
commit itself to proteomics

To gain faster insight into proteomics, the greatest potential for
saving time lies in pre-analysis, in other words, the time-consuming
steps involved right up to providing the isolated and pure target
protein. This is exactly where Vivascience cell culture and protein
purification, products come in.

Typical cell culture products from Vivascience are sterile
filtration systems and small MiniPERM bioreactors for protein
production. Vivaspin products offer unsurpassed concentration speed
and recovery of precious biomolecules with molecular weight cut-off
membranes in a unique vertical configuration.
