International Association of Gaming Attorneys (IAGA) Votes to Open Membership to Financial Professionals.

) has voted to expand its constituent base by making membership available to financial professionals in the business of advising gaming companies on finance and capital raising.

In connection with the move, IAGA will change its name to the International Association of Gaming "Advisors" and open its membership to investment bankers, investment fund managers, and accountants actively involved with the gaming industry.

Separately, the Board voted to stage its 2007 IAGA/IAGR International Gaming Law Gaming law can be described as the set of rules and regulations that apply to the gaming or gambling industry. Gaming law is not exactly a branch of law in the traditional sense but rather a transversal gathering of a range of legal topics related to gaming which encompasses  Conference October 5-9 in Chicago, USA. According to IAGA president Yvette Landau, the IAGA Board's vote recognizes the role that finance plays in the regulatory process.

"Financial transactions and the accompanying legal issues occupy a much larger portion of the regulatory agenda," Landau said. "As the industry's capital needs grow, finance will take up even more of our time and resources. That's why it is important for lawyers and bankers and accountants who advise companies to be cognizant of the regulatory complexities and work together to address them.

"By the same token, regulators need to be more conversant CONVERSANT. One who is in the habit of being in a particular place, is said to be conversant there. "Opening our group to top financial and investment advisors will help spark a fresh dialogue between the public and private sector that facilitates sound regulatory policy and assures regulatory compliance."

Landau said that IAGA intends to actively solicit new finance members in conjunction with its 2007 Conference in Chicago.
