International AIDS conference: the Caucus for Evidence-Based Prevention.In mid-2005, SIECUS SIECUS Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States , amfAR (the Foundation for AIDS Research), and Population Action International joined together to create a caucus of U.S.-based nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) focused on prevention to be convened during the 2006 International AIDS Conference Education, networking and the promotion of best practice are essential to enhancing the response to HIV/AIDS. IAS conferences provide opportunities to share experience, and increase the knowledge and expertise of professionals working in HIV/AIDS. (IAC). The three organizations represent different issues and the coming together of organizations dedicated to HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome and sexual and reproductive health and rights. Comprised of dozens of diverse organizations, the Caucus for Evidence-Based Prevention was created for the specific purpose of promoting HIV HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), either of two closely related retroviruses that invade T-helper lymphocytes and are responsible for AIDS. There are two types of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is responsible for the vast majority of AIDS in the United States. prevention supported by sound science at the 2006 IAC. The Caucus serves as a unified voice for U.S.-based organizations which believe that evidence, not ideology, should guide HIV prevention. |
