) today was awarded EPCglobal RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label," "transponder" or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna.  Hardware Certification Marks at the EPCglobal US Conference 2005 in Atlanta. The EPCglobal Hardware Certification Marks are specific to Intermec's 915 MHz and 865 MHz IM5 RFID reader modules, which are used in Intermec's fixed RFID IF5 smart reader, fixed RFID IF4 serial reader, mobile RFID IV7 vehicle reader and the PM4i printer/encoder.

Intermec RFID systems are at work around the world helping make companies more efficient and effective, and IM5-based RFID readers are already deployed in 20 countries. A Generation 2 multi-protocol firmware upgrade will be available in Q4 2005. IM5 modules and the RFID equipment into which they're incorporated are certified for FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  Part 15 operation and comply with European ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute, Sophia Antipolis technical park, Nice, France, www.etsi.org) A non-profit membership organization founded in 1988, dedicated to standardizing information and communication technologies (ICT) throughout Europe.  requirements for true global supply chain operation.
