Interlochen and Juilliard team up for master classes. (Items of Interest).

Internationally renowned school of the performing arts in New York, New York, U.S. It has its roots in the Institute of Musical Art (founded 1905) and a graduate school (1924) founded through an endowment from the financier Augustus D.
 and Interlochen will embark on a cooperative venture that will bring Juilliard faculty to the Interlochen campus to provide a series of master classes in music, dance and theater.

This new relationship is in addition to the annual visit Juilliard admissions officers make to the Interlochen campus to audition Academy students. In recent years, around 15 percent of the Juilliard freshman class has been made up of Interlochen alumni.

During the 2003-2004 school year, Interlochen music students will benefit from a master class and ensemble instruction from violist Heidi Castleman. Castleman, who has served on the Juilliard Faculty since 1995, previously served on the faculties of the Eastman School of Music Eastman School of Music: see Rochester, Univ. of. , the Cleveland Institute of Music The Cleveland Institute of Music is one of the nation's leading independent music conservatories. It is located in the University Circle district of Cleveland, Ohio, United States and is overseen by president David Cerone and Catherine Jarjisian, interim dean. , the New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  Conservatory, the State University of New York-Purchase, Rice University and Philadelphia Musical Academy. Additional Juilliard teachers for the 2003-2004 school year will be announced online at www.interlochen.org.
