Intergraph solutions group wins order to extend ship data interop framework.

Intergraph Solutions Group, a division of Intergraph Corporation (Nasdaq:INGR), announced recently the award of a $4 million delivery order to extend the Product Data Management (PDM) Interoperability Framework developed for the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The Interoperability Framework is a standards-based, scalable architecture that provides users with an integrated, logical view of distributed ship data from multiple software systems. Intergraph will integrate additional processes and systems using XML best practices and adapter technology, extend the technology to new weapon systems platforms and programs and help the U.S. Navy develop deployment strategies.

First demonstrated at Sea Air Space Exposition 2002, the PDM Interoperability Framework allows users to query and view 3D representations of ship structure, piping, cable, HVAC systems, compartments and equipment. The common 3D graphical user interface allows users to view information and associated documentation from multiple sources using a Web browser. The framework supports mission readiness and familiarity training and allows users to interoperate with existing ship information sources, the integrated product data environment and future sources such as enterprise resource planning. Although originally demonstrated publicly with a U.S. Navy Torpedo Weapon Retriever (TWR) ship, the core software can be quickly adapted to a new data model for other ship classes or structures. NAVSEA is currently planning shipboard deployment and life-cycle support for the LPD 17 Amphibious Assault Ship program.
