Intergraph announces enhancements to raster-to-vector conversion tool.HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 1995--Intergraph Software Solution's (ISS ISS See Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). ) Scanning Systems Division announced today the availability of the interactive raster-to-vector conversion tool, I/RAS Engineer, Version 5.1. I/RAS Engineer's enhancements significantly accelerate the on-screen on·screen or on-screen adj. & adv. 1. As shown on a movie, television, or display screen. 2. Digitizing or digitization process. I/RAS Engineer 5.1 was shown to attendees at the Design and Engineering Show, recently held in Chicago. I/RAS Engineer streamlines and accelerates the conversion process through: -- Raster The horizontal lines (scan lines) displayed on a TV or computer monitor. This is the origin of the term "raster graphics," which is the major category that all bitmapped images and video frames fall into (GIF, JPEG, MPEG, etc.). Separation, allowing for deletion of raster during conversion. -- Macros, allowing the user to tailor the vectorization to specific workflows. -- Text Replacement, helping the user to identify and replace text. -- Line Tracing, converting raster linear features to vector linestrings or polylines. -- Computer-aided Design computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), form of automation that helps designers prepare drawings, specifications, parts lists, and other design-related elements using special graphics- and calculations-intensive (CAD) element conversion, producing actual CAD vector geometry. "The latest features of I/RAS Engineer truly enhance the product to give the user a real solution for moving engineering drawings into the CAD environment," said Dennis Sanders, director of Intergraph's Scanning and Plotting Products Division. "The enhancements to the product allow for improved productivity giving users the output that they need," he added. I/RAS Engineer continues to provide the user with a more efficient means to achieve the desired CAD geometry by now allowing the user to "convert" a raster profile to lines and arcs, increasing the productivity of line conversion. Text Recognition now affords true word recognition during conversion based on user dictionaries and training sets. This Queued Text Recognition (QTR QTR Quarter QTR Qatar Airways (ICAO code) QTR Exact Time (American Radio Relay League - Amateur Handbook) QTR Qualification Test Report ) capability gives the user a tool that can "train" itself to match the user's text. Dynamic raster snap gives the user the opportunity to identify types of snaps (center line, intersection, etc.) and the software identifies the snap point as the user moves the mouse over the drawing, eliminating data points for point verification. Built on MicroStation and Intergraph's I/RAS B software, I/RAS Engineer offers access to the full power of both products, including features such as enhanced raster placement and access to cell (symbol) libraries. I/RAS Engineer adds the support of raster element recognition and line-following technology. -- Intergraph Background Information A member of the Fortune 500, Intergraph Corporation is the world's largest company dedicated to supplying interactive computer graphics systems.
