Enabling value-added workstations for industry's leading software

vendors of Windows NT-based visual simulation

At the International Training and Education Conference (ITEC 2000, booth No. 824), Intergraph Computer Systems continues to strengthen its position as the industry's leading enabler for Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (R)-based visual simulation, delivering powerful leading-edge workstation-based technologies. At ITEC 2000, Intergraph is announcing its new Zx ViZual Workstation, the Zx10 VE (ViZual Engine) (see separate release April 10). Based on Intergraph's Wahoo Technology(TM), the Zx10 VE delivers unprecedented system throughput for data-intensive visual simulation applications. The Zx10 VE is the first workstation in the industry to support Intense3D(R)'s Wildcat(TM) 4210 3D Graphics Accelerator A display adapter that performs a specialized set of graphics functions to render an image on screen. Today, all display adapters provide basic rendering functions in hardware, but many have graphics processing units (GPUs) that are sophisticated computers. , which delivers twice the performance of previous Wildcat products, along with a rich feature set that's ideally suited for the needs of visual simulation. The combination of the Zx10 VE's system engineering and the Wildcat 4210 delivers unsurpassed image quality and visualization performance that easily outpaces any other workstation on the Windows NT platform.

"ITEC is the premier gathering of training and education professionals, and in recent years it has evolved into a powerful forum for the latest advances in Windows NT-based visual simulation -- many of them pioneered or enabled by Intergraph Computer Systems," said Barlow Blake, executive marketing director for visual computing The use of computers for 3D modeling and animation. See visualization. , Intergraph Computer Systems. "This year is no exception, with exciting demonstrations from Terrex, CG2, and other software leaders empowered by the breakthrough performance of Intergraph workstations such as our Zx10 VE."

"The trend of open-architecture workstations, software interoperability, and highly correlated data for visual simulation has turned into a tidal wave tidal wave, term properly applied to the crest of a tide as it moves around the earth. The wavelike upstream rush of water caused by the incoming tide in some locations is known as a tidal bore.  that is enveloping en·vel·op

, president, Terrex. "With products like the new Zx10 VE with Wahoo Technology, Intergraph continues to deliver the enabling workstation technologies that allow Terrex and other software vendors to develop innovative, open-systems solutions -- driving the entire industry forward in the process."

"Intergraph Computer Systems has been an outstanding partner in advancing this revolutionary field of Windows NT-based visualization/simulation," said David King David King may refer to:

, president of CG2, Inc. "Intergraph's new Zx10 VE is a powerful platform for our Mantis open-platform image generator (IG), which includes cross-platform APIs that allow developers to take full advantage of the Zx10 VE's Wildcat 4210 graphics hardware. The results are available for all to see at ITEC -- exceptional image quality with extremely high frame rates and performance."

High-Powered Demonstrations

Center stage at the Intergraph Computer Systems booth is a trio of Intergraph Zx10 VE ViZual Workstations powering a CG2 demo of its Mantis open-platform Image Generator (IG). The demo is displayed at high resolution by three large-screen Barco retroprojectors, and showcases the Zx10 VE's full-screen antialiasing See anti-aliasing.  at ultrahigh ul·tra·high

Also in the Intergraph booth, Sensor Force 2000, a consortium of companies promoting sensor visualization technologies on Windows NT, is demonstrating a sensor-built flight simulator flight simulator, device providing a controlled environment in which a flight trainee can experience conditions approximating those of actual flight. A simulator generally consists of an enclosure housing a working replica of the interior of the cockpit of an  powered by three Intergraph Zx10 ViZual Workstations. Each Zx10 displays the same scene, but with a different sensor view: visual, infrared, or radar. The demonstrations showcase the remarkable correlation of Terrex's completely image-based database and the superb quality of CG2's Mantis image generator. The system also demonstrates how an open-systems approach can increase correlation and avoid "negative training," often encountered when mixing and matching proprietary systems. The accuracy and image quality of this open-architecture, Windows NT-based simulator surpasses the performance and capability of any offering previously available -- even on expensive proprietary systems.

As always at ITEC, Intergraph Computer Systems' workstations can be seen across the exhibit floor, powering demonstrations from leading vendors such as MAK Mak
