Largest Water Company in Flanders Selects Intergraph Consulting

Services to Implement Next Generation Technology, G/Water, for

Integrated GIS

Intergraph Utilities (Nasdaq:INGR) today announced that Vlaamse Maatschappij voor Watervoorziening (VMW) has awarded a $1 million (U.S.) contract to Intergraph Utilities consulting services for the implementation of an integrated geofacilities management system (GMS) based on Intergraph's next-generation AM/FM/GIS technology, G/Water. VMW owns and operates approximately 28,800 km of pipeline, supplying more than 136 million cubic meters of water annually to 2.5 million customers in 174 municipalities. The company will deploy G/Water to more than 100 users throughout its four regional departments, operations centers, and the main office in Brussels to automate and streamline engineering and operations activities. The current effort is a new project and complements an earlier computer-aided engineering (CAE) initiative successfully rolled out during the last 18 months.

G/Water is a GMS based on industry best practices for water and wastewater. Its unprecedented openness permits seamless integration with other corporate applications, streamlining the day-to-day tasks of model design and maintenance, and enabling ad hoc and routine analysis of the model as well as enterprise Web data access. Data will be captured from four different regions and centrally managed from the Brussels head office.

Gert Danckaers, head of Water Supply & Distribution and project manager of CAD and GIS applications at VMW, said, "The choice of G/Water as our foundation for the corporate GIS was a natural step for VMW and will extend our CAE and GIS initiatives launched in 2000.
