Interactive Data Corp. acquires Quote.com from Lycos.The eSignal eSignal is a popular charting package, developed by eSignal (owned by Interactive Data Corporation). eSignal and eSignal Pro provide streaming data of financial markets and allow users to examine the data using fundamental analysis and technical analysis. (Hayward, CA) division of Interactive Data Corp. (IDC; Bedford, MA), a company which is 62% owned by Pearson, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Quote. com and related assets from Lycos (Waltham, MA) for $30 million in cash. Lycos is a unit of Korean Daum Communications (Seoul). Quote.com produces four main services that deliver financial content and trading tools for active traders Traders Individuals who take positions in securities and their derivatives with the objective of making profits. Traders can make markets by trading the flow. When they do this, their objective is to earn the bid/ask spread. and individual investors. IDC said that eSignal's recently launched web sites MarketCenter.com and FutureSource.com, together with Quote.com and RagingBull.com, generate 196 million page views per month. IDC anticipates that advertising on those sites will build a "growing revenue stream." |
