Internet access, today announced one of the industry's first one-stop solutions for small office workgroups.

Under the terms of the agreement, InterNex will offer its ExpressNet ISDN Group Internet access services bundled with the Trancell WebRamp family of shared LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  Internet access devices. To encourage customers to sign on to the new service, InterNex is offering a competitive discount to the first customers who commit to a full year of service.

The new program fills a need among small office, home office (SOHO Soho (sōhō`, sə–), district of Westminster, London, England, known for its continental restaurants. Once a fashionable quarter, it became popular among writers and artists in the 19th cent. ) businesses for low-cost, high-speed access to the Internet shared by PCs on local area networks, according to the executives involved in the agreement. Until now, smaller companies have been forced to choose between slow, twisted-pair analog connections or faster ISDN lines. Installation has also been complicated, requiring on-site service technicians and typically costing several thousand dollars.

"Bundling the WebRamp shared LAN access device with ExpressNet services gives our SOHO customers what they've been asking for -- an affordable, high-quality service that is easy to install," said Gregory Sherrill, vice president of sales and marketing, InterNex.

"The integrated functionality and low price point of the WebRamp make it a truly innovative solution. The bundle effectively shortens our customers' Internet access `to-do' list to one item -- Call InterNex," said Sherrill.

"InterNex has an excellent customer base in the same small business space that we are targeting, making an excellent fit with the WebRamp," said Steve Galletely, director of channels marketing, Trancell. "The InterNex relationship represents a key step toward building nationwide distribution for the WebRamp through traditional VAR channels as well as with new ISP channels. The ISP market is the only one-stop solution for customers trying to reach the Internet via ISDN, easily and cost-effectively."

According to the formal terms of the agreement, InterNex is a reseller of Trancell. Trancell intends to reach all the major U.S. population centers through a distribution channel of national and regional ISPs, as well as value-added resellers, according to Galletely.
