InterGen, a Houston, Texas based Private Energy Producer (PEP), nears completion of their $70 million Indigo Energy Center power plant located in Riverside County, California Riverside County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of California, stretching from Orange County to the Colorado River, which is the border with Arizona. . The new merchant power plant will produce 135 mega-watts (MW) of electricity generated from three simple cycle GE LM6000 SPRINT combustion turbine units. Last week InterGen completed construction of the first two units at the site and plans to complete the third unit by late August 2001.

Founded in 1995, InterGen is jointly owned by Shell Generating, Ltd and Bechtel Enterprises Holdings, Inc. In addition to Private Energy Production, the company owns over 4,000 miles of intrastate natural gas pipelines and operates one of the largest natural gas storage reservoirs in Texas.
