Intense3D Delivers on Sweeping Performance Promise of Wildcat 3D Graphics.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 10, 1999--

Wildcat 4110 Sets Next Performance Bar;

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  Partners to Demonstrate Products at SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics, www.siggraph.org) The arm of the ACM that specializes in computer graphics and interactive techniques. Providing publications, workshops and conferences, it has served technicians and researchers as well as the artist and business community

Intense3D(TM), the leading developer of professional 3D graphics products, today announced the Wildcat(TM) 4110, the newest graphics accelerator A display adapter that performs a specialized set of graphics functions to render an image on screen. Today, all display adapters provide basic rendering functions in hardware, but many have graphics processing units (GPUs) that are sophisticated computers.  based on its revolutionary Wildcat 3D Graphics Technology. Today's announcement at SIGGRAPH '99 represents the second milestone in the rollout of the Wildcat 3D Graphics Technology, setting a new standard for 3D graphics computing. The Wildcat 4110 earns the distinction of delivering the fastest 3D graphics performance on any platform, shattering all Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (R) workstation scores and breaking four out of five records for UNIX systems on the Viewperf 6.1.1 benchmarks, further positioning Intense3D as the market leader in professional 3D graphics (see Intense3D Wildcat 4110 Competitive Performance Comparisons, Aug.10.) The Wildcat 4110 delivers up to twice the performance of previous Wildcat 3D graphics accelerators, a sustained 6 million triangles/sec. and a peak texture fill rate of 143 Mpixel/sec., and includes new features specifically designed for the graphics professionals. As a result, engineers, scientists, animators, and other creative and technical professionals will achieve even higher levels of real-time interactivity and realistic imagery, allowing them to further maximize their creativity and productivity. Available to workstation vendors this month, the Wildcat 4110 is based on Wildcat 3D Graphics Technology, a revolutionary graphics technology that employs Intense3D's ParaScale(TM) architecture to accelerate the entire 3D graphics pipeline in hardware.

"With the delivery of the 4110 and the continued commitment of our workstation partners, Intense3D remains the market leader in the professional graphics market," said Bill Rick, vice president of sales and marketing at Intense3D. "We are committed to delivering the industry's fastest 3D graphics performance and most advanced features for all types of professionals."

Intense 3D, The Innovation Leader

Furthering Intense3D's commitment to delivering graphics innovation, the Intense3D Wildcat 4110 is the first 3D graphics accelerator on Windows NT to feature groundbreaking SuperScene(TM) anti-aliasing--true, multisampled, scene mode anti-aliasing--which delivers significantly improved image quality using less memory than other multisampling schemes. SuperScene anti-aliasing offers unprecedented realism by removing "jaggies" and "crawling" edges from complex moving images. SuperScene supports 16 samples per pixel utilizing the same amount of memory as other techniques that only use four. The result is incredibly realistic imagery for training simulations, character animations, and design visualizations.

The Wildcat 4110 features the industry's largest onboard memory--a full 128 MB which allows professionals to simultaneously process large amounts of texture data and operate at higher display resolutions, beyond that of HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates  (1920 x 1080). The Wildcat 4110 also offers volumetric volumetric /vol·u·met·ric/ (vol?u-met´rik) pertaining to or accompanied by measurement in volumes.

Wildcat 4110 -- Fastest Cat in the Jungle

Intense3D's Wildcat 4110 sets new standards for 3D graphics performance with a sustained 6M triangles/sec. performance (Gouraud-shaded, lit, Z-buffered) and industry-leading features such as:

-- First AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) A high-speed 32-bit port from Intel for attaching a display adapter to a PC. It provides a direct connection between the card and memory, and only one AGP slot is on the motherboard.  Pro graphics accelerator: Supporting the new 3D

professional graphics board standard, AGP Pro designed for both

AGP 2X and AGP 4X implementations, enables optimum performance

with the latest graphics standards and workstation capabilities.

-- Support for Linux: Available for Linux 4.0 upon its release,

Wildcat will include drivers to optimize graphics performance on

the Linux operating system operating system (OS)

GFLOPS - gigaflops
 geometry engine: Intense3D's advanced

geometry chips accelerate all OpenGL geometry operations, giving

graphics professionals the industry's highest level of real-time

display capability.

-- Dedicated 64 MB frame buffer An area of memory used to hold a frame of data. Typically used for screen output, the buffer is the size of the maximum image that can be displayed on the screen. -- High-bandwidth, independent buses: Eliminates bottlenecks by

separately connecting the frame buffer and texture memory to the

graphics chipset -- a key part of the balanced architecture that

makes Wildcat graphics accelerators the choice of the industry's

leading workstation vendors.

-- Support for all standard graphics APIs: Enables graphics

professionals to take full advantage of advanced applications
